About FCCLA

Family, Career and Community Leaders of America is a nonprofit national career and technical student organization for young men and women in Family and Consumer Sciences education in public and private school through grade 12. Everyone is part of a family, and FCCLA is the only national Career and Technical Student Organization with the family as its central focus. Since 1945, FCCLA members have been making a difference in their families, careers, and communities by addressing important personal, work, and societal issues through Family and Consumer Sciences education.

We as FCCLA members have the obligation to help others in our family, school, community and world! That's where our projects come in. There is a project for everyone! There is everything from baking to career exploration! Once you join FCCLA, you become part of a family that compares to none other. You meet friends from everywhere and the FCCLA family grows day by day.

Family and Consumer Sciences courses are beneficial to teens in many ways.  Students can learn skills to live independently and to explore career opportunities in things from child development to culinary arts, textiles and design to understanding careers in the healthcare industry.   The coursework in this field also allows students to use critical thinking skills to make decisions, be creative, and try new things. These courses teach us about real world problems. It prepares teens for life outside of highschool as they go on to accomplish bigger, better things in our ever changing world.
